The Construction Industry Peak Body
Trades, Supervisors and Managers
Backed by all key Construction industry bodies to improve our H&S performance.
The Construction Safety Council represents everyone that works in the construction industry. With representation from industry leaders, we’re working together to improve the health and safety performance of our industry for our people.
We believe it’s worth the effort.
Starting in 2009, the Chief Executives and Presidents of Registered Master Builders Federation (RMBF), Certified Builders Association New Zealand (CBANZ), Civil Contractors NZ (CCNZ), New Zealand Specialist Trade Contractors Federation (NZSTCF) and Site Safe New Zealand (SSNZ), worked together to develop a health and safety strategy for the entire construction sector.
In the years following, Construction Safety Council developed a strategy to lead our industry into a safer future, by increasing the competency of our workers, and by setting a common standard as an industry.
From this, the ConstructSafe scheme was born. A scheme that changes our thinking and allows us to measure individuals to our industry standard for health and safety. We are now working as one industry to continue to improve worker competency standards.
The Certified Builders Association of New Zealand Inc is a community of craftsmen and was established in 1998 to recognise and promote qualified builders. Unless the builder is trade qualified they cannot become a member of the Certified Builders Association.
Registered Master Builders Association of New Zealand Inc is a membership organisation representing a significant part of New Zealand's building and construction fraternity. We have been around since 1892 and we are proud of our heritage.
We are represented regionally which enables us to have all the necessary checks and balances available on the ground to ensure that our members remain the ‘best of the best’ in the industry. This also ensures that our builders are provided local support and networking opportunities to share best practice with their peers, which in turn, filters down to their clients’ building projects.
To be a nurturing membership organization that enhances the reputation of its members, provides clients with a great building experience and constructs quality buildings that improve NZ’s built environment’

WorkSafe New Zealand is New Zealand’s workplace health and safety regulator.
New Zealand has unacceptably high rates of workplace fatalities, serious harm injuries and work-related disease and illness. We are working collaboratively to achieve a 25 percent reduction by 2020 of the workplace death and injury toll. Work is also underway to establish occupational health reduction targets.
Our focus is to embed and promote good workplace health and safety practices.
Here at the Transport Agency we want all our people to go home safe and well every day, no exceptions. As part of this, we're committed to creating a Zero Harm culture - a systemic risk-based (or 'real world') approach to health and safety - not only within our own organisation, but across the wider roading industry.
Our priority is the wellbeing of all our people. It's really as simple as that. Our promise is that whether you are on site or the network, or in the office all our people will go home safe and healthy every day, no exceptions.
Civil Contractors NZ play a vital role in the development of our country, particularly in the building and maintenance of our roading, transport and public services infrastructure. It is these services that a modern developed economy must have to compete efficiently in world markets and to deliver high living standards for its people.
